I’ve always wondered how well a small mom and pop convenience store would do in a subdivision in the suburbs. Growing up in an older section of a smaller city in Illinois I was always bewildered when my father would point out a building currently occupied as a single family home and inform me that it once was a local grocery store. How could that house in the middle of a block used to be a viable commercial store? So what place would a small walkable shop do in the middle of a subdivision?
