The Hairpin Lofts building is an excellent example of what the city can do when using it’s powers for the better of housing in Chicago. Affordable housing is short supply in many parts of the city. Hopefully this building can be used as a model to jump start other developments. There are a lot of vacant warehouses in this city that could be put to better use then wasting away with little care. Sustainability, tax incentives, artist and entire buildings being sold for $1, what’s there not to love? Sign me up for $1 building, I’ll take a few at that price. It must be nice.
